When students attend Putnam City Schools in Oklahoma City, they’re getting more than an education in the three Rs — they’re also learning valuable lessons in community building.

Each year since 2007, Putnam City Schools has hosted a Challenge Day, which helps students focus on team building and reflecting on the important things they want out of education and life. Challenge Day aims to improve student retention, reduce absenteeism and suspensions, and help students learn to respect and celebrate their differences.

The 2010 Challenge Day was recently the subject of an article in the Oklahoman, a leading regional newspaper. To read the Oklahoman article, click here.
